Junior Chef Summer Camp with Artful Chefs will be the best thing you do all summer!
- Learning how to cook at a real commercial kitchen.
- Getting a taste of what it’s like to work as real professional chef.
- Trying out classical French culinary techniques. You’ll learn knife cuts like julienne, battonet, allumette as well as gourmet cooking skills which you can use to amaze your friends and relatives!
If you are at least 7 years old, you can join us at our commercial kitchen in Vista, CA for these Junior Chef Summer Camp Sessions! The kitchen is conveniently located in the business park off of Sycamore Avenue and Melrose.
International Cuisine Boot Camp
First of all, great chefs start their careers by learning the basic techniques. Therefore, you will learn those basics and much more during our International Cuisine Boot Camp sessions! You will learn knife skills and cooking techniques from around the world. You will be working in small teams and engage in the action-packed thrill of culinary teamwork with your professional chef instructor.
International themes: French soufflés with crepes; Asian stir fry and egg rolls; Mexican tostada salad dessert nachos; Vegetarian roasted vegetables and Mediterranean quinoa salad. And on graduation day, custom pizzas and dessert pizzas from scratch to share with parents.
The Italian Bistro Chef Boot Camp
Since Summer is the best time for preparing Italian cuisine! Jr. Chefs learn how to make all their Italian favorites from scratch with fresh herbs and spices. You’ll learn to write a recipe, do menu costing, practice basic knife skills and learn cooking skills to amaze your family and friends! Our method is all hands-on, most of all you will have tons of fun and practice new skills each day.
Italian theme menus: Fresh pasta with white and red sauces; Risotto with caramelized vegetables; Gnocchi with butter sauce; Focaccia with fresh tomato minestrone. And on graduation day, custom pizzas and dessert pizzas from scratch to share with parents.
Advanced Restaurant Boot Camp (You must have completed at least one basics camp to register for this camp)
Have you ever thought of working at a restaurant kitchen when you grow up? You also may have wondered what would it be like? Now you can find out with our advanced cooking class camps! We will take smaller teams and build their skills to a higher level. Learn how to build amazing flavor and present your dishes like a chef. Teams will compete in a cook-off challenge on the final day of camp for the title of Jr. Chef Champions.
Menu: Bisque en croute; Roulades and timbales; Piccata and pilafs; Ragu bolognese. And on graduation day, parents will sample the results from our cook-off challenge.
If you are registering siblings for the same session of camp, you will receive your $20 discount within 48 hours. Only one discount can apply per family, per session. Recommended ages for all camps are 7 – 15 years old.

Important Information for Your Parents:
We are located in North San Diego County in Vista, CA. In addition, our camps are held in a professional commercial kitchen. Not only will your kids get to work in a cool kitchen, they will also be working with our professional chefs. The kitchen is located in the business park off of the 78 freeway and Sycamore. The main cross streets are Sycamore Avenue and Business Park Drive. Easily accessible from Palomar Airport Road, the 78 freeway and Melrose Drive.

Why Cooking Classes for Kids San Diego?

Because sharing the joy of cooking with children and teens in North San Diego is one of the most rewarding things that we do. Our activities teach your child through hands-on cooking classes. Probably most importantly, we stress skills and technique, safety, nutrition, creativity, and of course, FUN.
- Our junior chef summer camp menus are nut-free, but our commercial kitchen may be used by other chefs to create dishes with nuts. If you have any questions, please call.
- Menus include gluten and dairy, but we have alternatives available for Jr. Chefs with food sensitivities.
- Please have your child arrive on time wearing closed-toe shoes and a hair tie (if your child has long hair).
Our cancellation policy for camp sessions:
If it is necessary, you may cancel your Junior Chef Summer Camp registration for a session up to 30 days until the start date for any reason. You will receive a full refund, less a $100 placement deposit. In addition, if you reserved more than one place, the deposit fee will be deducted for each enrollment which is canceled.
Furthermore, cancellations from 30 to 14 days before the camp start date, will receive a 50% refund or you may transfer to another Junior Chef Summer Camp of equal value. Also, if you reserved more than one spot, the 50% refund applies to each enrollment.
No refund or exchanges will be given for camp sessions that are cancelled less than 14 days prior to the first date of the Junior Chef Summer Camp session you are registered for. If you miss a session date due to illness or other unforeseen issues, our standard cancellation policy also applies.

Finally, Artful Chefs reserves the right to cancel any camp session that fails to meet enrollment minimums. In the unlikely event this is necessary, we will contact you by email or telephone and issue a full refund or you may request to be transferred to another Junior Chef Summer Camp of your choice (depending on availability).
